Alpha Program

The Alpha course is for anyone who wants to explore what Christianity really means in a relaxed and fun setting. This exciting course runs for ten weeks each fall at Montecito Covenant Church and includes dinner, an easy going 20-minute talk about the Christian faith, and open small group discussion. The Alpha course is free!

What can you expect in Alpha?

Anyone, Everyone. All are welcome at Alpha regardless of religious background or viewpoints. Through informative talks and dialogue, people are invited to consider how Jesus has any relevance for their lives.

Ask Anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile. There’s no phoniness or holier-than-thou attitude but a desire for honest and genuine conversation.

Relaxed Atmosphere. Learn about Christianity in an easy going and fun setting. Experience an open and lighthearted environment where it’s safe to explore and learn. Small group discussion gives you a chance to discuss your own heart-felt opinions.

Delicious Community. Sit down for a good meal and get to know others who are asking questions about Christianity. Enjoy stimulating conversations and welcoming relationships where others will listen to your cares and concerns with no criticism.

To sign-up for the Alpha course, contact Associate Pastor Jon Lemmond at jonucsb@yahoo.com or (805) 969-0373.

Adult Ministries

When Jesus walked our earth, he didn’t ‘go it alone.’ He built a small community of friends and fellow travelers with whom he shared his life and his faith. Small groups are the main way we support and care for each other, grow in our faith, and serve together. We urge everyone who attends Montecito Covenant on a regular basis to get connected with a small group.

Weekly Programming (September – May)

  • Adult Bible Study meets on most Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

Connection Dinners
Connection Dinners are all about making new friends and building a sense of community in a relaxed setting around a meal. Groups of 6-8 people commit to gather once a month over a four-month period for a meal and fellowship. Each group is led by a Host Coordinator. The Host Coordinator has the opportunity to minister to their group in a special way as s/he coordinates the four dinners within the group and help draw the group together in friendship and fellowship. If you would like to Host or be a part of these quarterly groups, contact Associate Pastor Jon Lemmond.

After-Worship-Ministry-Team
At MCC we desire to offer an altar ministry, regularly following each Sunday morning worship service, that welcomes and receives those who desire prayer for healing, encouragement, and salvation. Our goal is to express the compassion of the triune God, modeled by Jesus, to help people become whole, healthy, integral parts of the church community.  We recognize that Jesus’ own ministry involved inaugurating the Kingdom of God by listening to those in need, praying for those in pain, and inviting everyone into table-fellowship with himself (Matt. 4:23; Mark 9:21; Luke 9:48, 15:1-2; John 4:1-42). Moreover, he frequently commanded that his disciples engage in those same kingdom practices (Matt. 10:1, 7-8, 28:18-20; Mark 6:7, 12-13; Luke 9:1-2). If you would like to participate in this vital and excitingministry, contact Jon Lemmond, Associate Pastor.
